Lucas (Tx.) Lovejoy four-star receiver Daylan McCutcheon has over 30 offers already, including one he garnered from Florida after he visited in June.

Did you have a favorite college team (or player) growing up?
“Yeah, I had two favorite teams growing up, Oregon and Miami. Oregon because of De’Anothony Thomas. He was my favorite player on Oregon, and Miami, because my family is from that area, and that’s who I grew up around.”
Out of your early offers is there one or two that really caught your attention? A ‘wow’ moment?
“Getting offers from my favorite schools (Miami and Oregon) surprised me and getting Florida and Florida State offers really surprised me because they were my close second favorite teams.”
How did the Florida offer come about? Who did you communicate with and what did they have to say to you?
“I communicated with Coach [Rob] Sale and he said that he’s excited for me to be able to get on campus and be able to meet the wide receiver coach, [Billy] Gonzales, and be able to watch their summer workouts.”
Who came on the visit with you?
“My mom and dad came with me.”
What was the day like?
“We drove up from Fort Lauderdale and began touring the campus around 10 a.m. I was able to see the campus and the football facility. I was able to have a photo shoot and see their summer training.”
What coach did you speak with the most?
“I mainly spoke to Coach Gonzales. The main message from him and others is to enjoy the process.”
What was the highlight of the day?
“My highlight was seeing how beautiful the campus is.”
What did you think of the new football facility? What was the best thing about it?
“I thought the facility was very cool. I think the best thing about it was how the weight room is directly connected to the indoor practice facility.”
What are your early impressions of Florida?
“My early impression of Florida is that they are a good football team and they have a very good engineering program.”
What are some unofficial visits you’ve taken?
“I’ve visited Miami, Notre Dame, Purdue, Oklahoma, Clemson, South Carolina, Texas A&M, SMU and Baylor.”
Do you think that you will make another trip to Florida?
“Yes. I definitely will considering I have family out there.”
It’s still early, but do you have any leaders or are there a couple of programs that you know will be there until the very end for whatever reason?
“No. Not at the moment.”
What’s going to be important to you when you make your choice?
“A school that will support me academically while I play football. A school that is able to develop me into a better man and player and help me make it into the NFL.”
