McElroy thinks UF is being overlooked

It seems to me he was simply supporting a coach who helped him win a "national championship". From what I recall, Tim Tebow similarly supported his coach (Mullen) who helped him likewise win a "national championship". Do you have the same opinion of Tebow?

McElroy thinks UF is being overlooked

I kind of agree with him in that I think that not only did Florida beat Tennessee last year, but they came close to beating Missouri and Arkansas. I am guessing that the team's added experience will help them this year. The OL additions are an upgrade from last year, as are the DL additions...

    Stapleton hired by the Commanders

I was guessing that something like this would happen. Napier doesn't seem to "fire" staff, but seems to push them to the NFL, or in the case of Hoke, to a "re-assignment". The exception seems to be Raymond and Spencer, but that may have been more of influence from Armstrong.

Final Florida Class of 2024 Team Recruiting Rankings

Good question! I went back to look and I was looking at the column they label as "*AVG", which I now see is probably the average * rating of all the recruits. If you take their points and divide by number of recruits, then Florida comes in 7th. The point is you can play with the numbers however...

Is there a clear starter added

There's an interesting analysis comparing 2023 PFF grades of the incoming transfers to Gator starters. It seems like the transfers are an upgrade, but it should be taken with a grain of salt considering only Devon Manuel has faced SEC defenses. It still gives one hope.

    Before mediocrity set in...

I think most of what you say is true. People tend to ignore the lack of facility upgrades in the past 30 years at UF compared to the other SEC heavy weights. I don't know why this was so, but it is reality. I think too much blame has been placed on coaching, although each coach since Spurrier...

12 Florida signees in the final On3 300

Did anyone notice that if you look at the On3 industry weighted total average, Florida is rated sixth?

SEC & Big10 are calling the shots

After posting my reply, I found another article doing a better job of explaining the circumstances. I mentioned in another post that I am comfortable betting on greed, but I am also comfortable betting on fear of litigation.

Interesting Article on the Future of College Athletics

Maybe, and I'm not a prophet to predict how things will look in the future. But one thing I can feel comfortable betting on is greed. There is too much TV money involved these days to ignore, and it may not be the athletes making the biggest push. There are too many attorneys out there (as...

SEC & Big10 are calling the shots

I'm not so sure that this is what's happening. If it happened ten years ago, maybe, but so much has changed and is changing. Also, note that the quote talks about "college athletics" in general, and not just football. I agree with the implication that the two conferences are very influential...

Interesting Article on the Future of College Athletics

Yes exactly, and I think NIL is just a stall to placate the athletes to delay the inevitable sharing of TV revenue

    Revealing Stricklin tweet

Didn't Mark Twain once write "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."? What's ignored here is that Foley let the facilities deteriorate. Football has only now caught up with other SEC schools and Foley should have used Spurrier's popularity to collect funds for...

My uninformed, or maybe even misinformed, thoughts on NIL

An interesting article on the state of college football with the transfer portal, NIL, roster management.

My uninformed, or maybe even misinformed, thoughts on NIL

I think this is a well thought out with some well written statements on the NIL. I just wanted to add a few things ... Excellent point, except I think you would have to go back probably 100 years to argue this(, or at least 40). Schools started building stadiums, charging admission, signing...

This says Napier is all in on 2024 season

It seems to me that Napier tries to avoid "firing" someone (Raymond and Spencer are the exceptions) and instead has assistants "transition" either to the NFL or other opportunities. If I recall, one of the OL coaches has an expiring contract at the end of this month (I can't recall which one). I...

Report: Lanning to stay at Oregon

What makes some sense to me is Alabama hiring Napier. I know all the Napier-bashers would be happy, but should he leave, I would bet Lagway leaves as well.
