Portal recruiting has really improved this year

The OL guy was a big area of need too but freshman lineman don't often contribute much. If he earns a starting spot, that would be a huge get.

Our collective is paying McClain's way

I think this is the reason there is a movement afoot to eliminate walk-ons. Coaches don't like it but there's a good chance walk-ons will become thing of the past.

We're getting back to Urban Meyer level talent

I like this team but I just don't think it's 2008/2009 good, Not yet. Winning in 2006 did a lot for that 2008 team just like having a good 2024 against this schedule will do a lot for 2025 and 2026.

Has the offseason changed your opinion of coach Napier

I think the reason for being conservative in the passing game is because he knows our QBs won't be given enough time for those routes to develop. If we can pass block better, I am sure that is coming. He's actually a pretty good play caller but I think all the time spent on that is a take...

Has the offseason changed your opinion of coach Napier

I would say Coach Napier has been inconsistent on Gameday. He's had some games where the game plan was great, the team looked organized and well coached and we won. He's also had some games with bad penalties, special teams gaffs, etc. He has to have more good games and fewer bad ones...

We're getting back to Urban Meyer level talent

Give me the Pouncey twins, Reggie Nelson, Percy Harvin and Brandon Spikes and then we can start talking about Meyer type talent.

    Rivals Transfer Portal grades

Seems sort of arbitrary to separate out the spring portal window. I think we did pretty well overall. If we get the WR from ASU, we will have gotten everything we needed, except maybe another DT but you can say that about almost any team. We have a good roster, good QB situation and I...

    The 5 most critical games

I absolutely agree with this. Miami is the most important game of the season. This team is in need of a confidence boost and this program is in need of some good news coming off of the end to last season. If we lose to Miami, I just don't know how we can recover. Napier has been pretty...

Impact Analysis: McClain finds his way to Florida

Mark makes a good point about the admissions piece. That's a good sign for the future. I have to assume the coaching staff likes the maturity of our DB group and thinks they will help Cormani use his talent. Wild card thought... Is there a possibility we might use him at WR? He was an...

Marshall is going to have a beast year

You really had to reach to make this something negative. Really? The kid is getting ready for the draft and a big season. He can't work with UF coaches all year...

Who is the next to commit

That's an issue for sure. The Miami game is huge. If we win that game, regardless the fashion with which we win it, it will be a boost for recruiting. I think some kids will move us up on their lists and maybe wait to commit until they see more of the Gators. If we beat Miami, we have at...

Not sure why people are afraid of FSU next season.

If Napier had been 8-4 and 9-3 in his first two seasons there would be optimism and not doom and gloom. With FSUs schedule, 8-4 and 9-3 would have been no problem and we would have looked impressive in some of those games. We'll see how Norvell does but so far I think he's been the...

    The window is closed

We also didn't lose much. I think that's a good sign.

2 foreign OL signees in one class

Agreed. Despite seeming lack of OL talent we have been able to run the ball on the best teams in the country. We need to get better on pass pro and we need some help from RBs in that department. I'm hoping these new RBs are going to be good at pass pro. I think the long passes will come...

SEC/Big10 formulating plan to pay student-athletes

Amateurism is a thing of the past already for the big leagues of college sports. I'm guessing the amateur model will live on in smaller leagues that don't generate enough revenue to pay players. I'm pretty sure we are also headed to place were players are not students unless they choose to...

Not sure why people are afraid of FSU next season.

I'm not terribly worried. It all depends on QB play. If DJ U plays as well as Jordan Travis then there might be some concern, and you would have to give Norvell credit for that. But, I have my doubts about that. And, they didn't exactly dominate us in either of the last two years. Had we...

What are the positions you feel best and worst about

I feel good about the coaching changes on defense in secondary and DL. We should be better. I think we will score some points but I'm concerned about OL and WR. We've had good offense with bad OL and WR under Napier but I think that has to improve given the teams we have to play this year.

Who is the next to commit

I kind of think our 2025 class recruiting is going to depends a lot on what happens on the field this season. If we win some games, makes some noise and Napier gets off the hot seat then we will gain a lot of momentum.

As soon as Georgia called I knew too!

Napier said he's going to keep calling plays

I don't know that anyone could have called a better offense last year. We scored a ton of points and chewed up a bunch of ground despite not being able to pass block and a serious lack of receiving threats. The defense let us down big time at Missouri, vs. Arkansas, LSU and Kentucky. That's...
