Last weekend Florida extended an offer to Opelika (Ala.) three-star defensive lineman Malik Autry. Though the 6-foot-5, 280-pounder is committed to Auburn, he will be in Gainesville in the next week.

Did you have a favorite college team (or player) growing up? If so, who and why?
“My favorite team growing up was Auburn because I live 20 minutes away from the university.”Out
Out of your early offers is there one or two that really caught your attention? A ‘wow’ moment?
Teams that gave me ‘wow’ moments are probably Auburn, Florida, and Georgia.”
How did the Florida offer come about? Who did you communicate with and what did they have to say to you?
“I got the Florida offer from talking to Coach [Kali] James, coach [Cannon] Gibbs, and the D-line coach [Sean Spencer]. They said that I was a priority. Really and they liked my length and speed.”
What are your early impressions of Florida?
“My early impression of Florida is that they are a genuine school with some great coaches.”
Have you visited any college campuses yet? If so, where and what were a couple of your favorite visits?
“I have visited campuses before. My favorites probably being Alabama, Auburn, and Clemson.”
Do you have any plans to see any schools over the summer?
“This summer I will go to Auburn, Alabama, Florida, LSU, and Georgia.”
Do you know when you will make a trip to Florida?
“I will go to Florida on the 8th of June.”
You are committed to Auburn, but are there a couple of other programs that you know will be there until the very end for whatever reason?
“Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and LSU.”
What’s going to be important to you when you make your choice?
“What’s going to be important is who is really the most persistent with recruiting and how much I can build a relationship with and who I could see spending 3-4 years of my life with every day.”
