Mount Juliet (Tn.) Lipscomb Academy three-star defensive lineman Amir Leonard-Jean Charles entered Saturday’s Jr. Day visit to Florida armed with offers from the likes of Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, and Tennessee. By the end of the day, the Gators added to that list.

What was the highlight of your visit today?
“My highlight of the day was without a doubt the position meeting with Coach [Gerald] Chatman and Coach [Kali] James. The energy from those two coaches was magnetic.”
Which coaches did you speak with the most, and what did they have to say to you?
“I spent the most time with Coach Chatman and Coach James. They talked about family, values, purpose, being relentless, being disciplined, having strong fundamentals, and building myself on and off the field.”
What are your thoughts on new defensive line coach Gerald Chatman?
“He’s someone that I can immediately look up to. It was clear to me that he loves to teach and coach players into professionals. As soon as we met it was an immediate connection, coach to player.”
Is there anything new you learned about the Gators today that you didn’t know before? If so, what?
“I didn’t know that the campus was home to a crazy number of bats. Like 200,000 bats. I just love what they’re building over here.”
What is the most impressive thing you saw either on a tour of the campus or during one of the presentations? What really stood out?
“Coach Chatman has a list of 20-30 (or so) different defensive lineman techniques. I was like, ‘damn! Okay, coach, we finna give the o-line problems.'”
How do you feel about Florida after visiting today?
“They are definitely in my top five, no question.”
It’s still early for you, but do you have any leaders or a leaderboard?
“Yeah I have my top five, and like I said Florida is on that list.”
Who is on the list?
“Michigan, Tennessee, Florida and I’m figuring out the rest right now.”
What other visits do you have coming up in the next month or so?
“Michigan, Missouri, and maybe Indiana.”
