Florida found some success at Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange in the Class of 2023 when the Gators signed four-star safety Jordan Castell.
Building off of that high school pipeline, the Gators were one of the first offers for Castell’s former teammate, Class of 2026 safety Devin Jackson.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder visited Florida over the weekend for UF’s second Jr. Day.
QUICK Q&A
What was the highlight of your visit today?
“The highlight of my visit today was meeting the new defensive backs coach [Will Harris] and watching/listening to him give us pointers of how to step our game up coming into the next level.”
Which coaches did you speak with the most, and what did they have to say to you?
“I spoke with the defensive back coach [Harris] and skill position coach and all they had to say is always get better and have a routine. And know why you are doing it.”
During last week’s junior day, one of the popular features was the player panel. What did the players have to say about this program?
“The player panel was cool, especially hearing someone who goes through it every day as a student-athlete. They can relate to what it will be like going to UF.”
Is there anything new you learned about the Gators today that you didn’t know before? If so, what?
“I learned that they have a cold room that you can sit in to rehab your body.”
What is the most impressive thing you saw either on your tour of the campus or during one of the presentations? What really stood out?
“It was impressive how the athletes could just get pulled into a conversation with us without knowing us and still give us a good understanding of how a normal day in the life of a player at UF is.”
How do you feel about Florida after visiting today?
“I feel great about the visit and can’t wait to be back up there. Go Gators!”
It’s still early for you, but do you have any leaders or a leaderboard?
“UF is definitely the No. 1 school for me, especially with the great hospitality and the way I relate to players.”
