It always seemed like it was going that way but I guess I was holding out hope for Brown to win it since he looks like he has a bigger upside.
Since you have not seen him in practice and only know of his stats at Wisconsin, that is actually a pretty dumb conclusion. He looked the best of the 3 during the Spring and he had only been there a couple of months to learn a new offense in the most complicated position mentally of any sport. Our worst opening day starting quarterback since?
Treon Harris?
That's very harsh, too harsh I think. Treon wasn't even a QB really. That was a low point in Gator QBdom for sure. He still won some games though. Wasn't his Dad a coach? I wonder what became of him.Our worst opening day starting quarterback since?
Treon Harris?
I see his brother is a firefighter and does commercials for some protein bar. That's very harsh, too harsh I think. Treon wasn't even a QB really. That was a low point in Gator QBdom for sure. He still won some games though. Wasn't his Dad a coach? I wonder what became of him.
Mertz might not be elite but he isn't that bad. Mertz has a history at Wisconsin where he was better than Harris ever was here. Our worst opening day starting quarterback since?
Treon Harris?
Why would you be pulling for Brown to start on the road against a rank team when he has no experience at all.It always seemed like it was going that way but I guess I was holding out hope for Brown to win it since he looks like he has a bigger upside.
That is a joke. Richardson might have a dynamic upside but he had a losing record as a starter and the only thing he accomplished at UF was somehow be drafted #4 overall. By the end of the season everyone will wake up and agree; Mertz was a wise choice by Napier, who I imagine knows a little more about winning QB play than anyone on this thread. It says the worst since when?
He isn't on the same level as Richardson, Trask, Franks, Grier. You have to go back to either Harris or Brantly to find someone he is as bad as.
Would you rather have Richardson back another year or Mertz? He's got a better starting record than Anthony Richardson.
I would take Mertz. Richardson seemed to have a mental problem when the game was on the line. Don’t remember him ever being successful during 2 minute drills. His body language at the end of the FSU game final time out was loser.Would you rather have Richardson back another year or Mertz?
I think I would take Richardson.
In one sentence, you say that his quarterback had a losing record last year and then in the next sentence you said he knows more about winning quarterbacks than anyone on this thread.
Mertz based on performance, not potential that Richardson may never reach. Mertz will be above average this year and hopefully stay another to help break Lagway in. Richardson sucked against Kentucky, USF, Mizzou and even SC.Would you rather have Richardson back another year or Mertz?
I think I would take Richardson.
That is easy, he obviously knows more than you. Who did he have to choose from last year at QB? Richardson or Kitna? He recruited neither of them. You had better stick to pulling teeth because Napier definiteiy knows more about winning QBs than anyone this thread unless you have been looking at Transfer Portal evaluation film instead of X-rays..In one sentence, you say that his quarterback had a losing record last year and then in the next sentence you said he knows more about winning quarterbacks than anyone on this thread.
