Gators men's basketball head coach Todd Golden and Florida forward Thomas Haugh spoke ahead of No. 2 UF's matchup with LSU Saturday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Follow along to read everything they had to say about the matchup:
Golden on the availability of Alex Condon and Sam Alexis moving forward:
"Alex is doing great, to be honest. He's moving really, really well. Tomorrow night is not out of the question... Sam is a little further behind, he'll be out tomorrow night. He's still progressing, which is great."
On his decision of when to put Condon/Alexis or any other injured guy out there:
"If he's not ready to go, and we feel like it's going to jeopardize his recovery, he definitely won't be out there."
With that note, Condon should be 100% healthy moving forward once he hits the court. Him and Alexis both are still in boots, but Condon has been practicing and has looked better, per Golden.
On evaluating players and finding "good" spirited, unselfish guys:
"We definitely value it. It's a big part of our recruiting process and player evaluation is who they are. We say it all the time, but we want guys with great attitudes, great work ethics, and most importantly, guys that want to be here at Florida."
Golden on how important the staff surrounding him has been to getting Florida where it's at now:
"My staff has done an incredible job. As a head coach, you get credit, but without our staff and our players, that's what this program is... One thing that has been really beneficial for us is that we've stayed together for three years. We haven't had much attrition."
He said they feel the continuity when they're on the court and playing at their highest level.
"We have not rebounded well enough these past couple games. But, I'm not necessarily that surprised by that either. Condon and Sam are both really good rebounders, and we're playing smaller at times. Micah is still coming back."
On Urban Klavzar's development throughout the season:
"Coming over and jumping into a new program, it's just hard. It just took a little bit to get his legs under him. But, again, if you've watched me coach, you know my guards generally play with a lot of freedom and they know they can go get a bucket when that is what's required."
