Missouri's Eliah Drinkwitz said he hired new OC Kirby Moore from Fresno State to call plays: "At end of (last) season, we were ineffective on the offensive side of ball. I wasn't giving us the best advantage. So (it was time to) turn over the play calling to someone else."

HCs as full time play callers on offense just doesn't work anymore. Not because they are aren't good player callers but because it takes time and attention away for building up the overall program. It was always an iffy proposition but add in NIL and transfer portal and the work load is just too much for an HC to call plays well and run a good program.

We all either agree or disagree with Napier calling the plays. I for one agree if that is what he wants to do. He has Ryan Ohara to do the QB coaching up to game day and does the weekday game planning with the QBs. Napier's play calling was not the issue, it was the lousy Defense that we have had over the last multiple years, including last year. I am hoping the new DC solves that.

That's my thing with all this.

It's not that maybe he could or couldn't be a great play caller, but does he need to be the head coach, offensive coordinator, play caller and the quarterback coach?
