The UCF game should be the tipping point

The fans and players don't deserve to have to go week to week to see what's going to happen with Napier.

This game against UCF should be the deciding point.

If we win that game no matter what give Napier the rest of the year and then decide on his fate.

If we lose that game fire him, then install an interim coach.

Is that fair?

The schedule is a bit of bad luck but losing to UCF in year 3, especially at The Swamp, says we have gotten worse under Napier and company.

I really, really hope it doesn't come to that....

They are in a situation, of their own making (the staff and to a lesser extent the players), and like it or not, Napier's job status is looked at on a week-to-week basis.

Beat UCF and while it isn't job-saving, it is a step in the right direction.

Lose, and his seat becomes hotter.

The same thing the following week against TN.

No one expects to win that game, but a win over UCF and playing the Vols close, might give him a stay of immediate execution, but it won't be lifesaving.

We didn't get to this point based on one or two games, and one or two games isn't going to significantly change the trajectory.

If he loses he gets fired after the game.

If he wins we wait and fire him after the FSU game unless he turns around and wins how many games?

That is a good question.

7 games. This is all on him. He has got everything he has asked for. I feel sorry for him because on all accounts he is a good man, but that is not what he gets millions for. No excuses, 7 wins and he stays, anything less he needs to go. Compare him to other 3rd year coaches.

Yesterday's newspaper had a whole article on he should get the rest of the year now because nothing good can come of firing him now. Other teams will scavenge our roster while we wait months to hire someone new. No coaches on the roster deserve to replace him the rest of the year.
