The Gainesville Sun has a story on our 5 most critical games.

They have Miami, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Georgia and Ole Miss.

If you ask me Florida State and Tennesee are more critical than Georgia and Ole Miss.

I agree. If we could somehow win against Tennessee and in Tallywacky, get back on the right side of history with Ky, beat Miami and then win against LSU, we could have a successful season.

The old saying is that the next game is the most critical/most important one, but in this case, that's really true.

Forget Florida will be coming off a five game losing streak, forget it's rival Miami, forget it's in the Swamp, putting all that to the side, it's hard to imagine a successful 2024 season if UF kicks it off with a loss in the opener, to an opponent the caliber of the Hurricanes.

And, and I know fans don't like reading this, but you're talking about arguably the two worst game day head coaches in P4 football.

These two have found new ways to lose games (though Cristobal has a much longer history at it).

This is almost like one of those old TBS Superstation, Saturday, 7:05 start, NWA wrestling, loser leave town matches (wooooooo - in honor of Rick Flair being in the news).

How do you recover from a loss like this to a coach who is as lighty regarded as Cristobal, especially when you consider both Napier and Cristobal started at their current programs at the same time, and are at the same point in the rebuild?

If Napier were to lose this game, he's probably coming near the end of his rope, or at least he should be.

On the other hand, a win in that game should propell Napier and the Gators to a good enough of a start to withstand the closing stretch and still make a bowl game.

I absolutely agree with this. Miami is the most important game of the season.

This team is in need of a confidence boost and this program is in need of some good news coming off of the end to last season. If we lose to Miami, I just don't know how we can recover.

Napier has been pretty good in openers and we have The Swamp.

Both teams really, really need that game. It's going to be intense regardless.

I'm looking forward to it!
