We need to gear up and get ready for the season.

Get an Ooooorrrrrraaaannnnngggggeeee and BBBBBBlllllluuuuuuueeeeeee going on in here.

I'll start with a football season question.

Who will be a surprise starter or which starter will lose their job by the TN game.

I think it will be on the OL. We are probably going to try a few combinations and settle on the starting 5 by Tennessee game. So I'll say Roderick Kearney with be a starting guard in the UT game.

Eugene Wilson will surprise everyone in the slot. Pearsall is Mr Reliable, especially on timed routes, he's perfect and doesn't drop balls, but anytime you get the ball into Wilson's hands in space anything can happen, he can score on any play, regardless who's covering him or how many. He's electric. I can't wait to see him line up in the slot. The o-line is going to be a lot better but a work in progress all fall and probably for a game or two. Oh, I'm betting Etienne will be RB1 within 2 or 3 games. He's huge and hasn't lost a step.

Mostly agree. We are going to need a couple of Freshman to make a move. I just hope it isn't because a veteran is screwing up.

Reading that story on the front page has me thinking Boardingham could start.
A lot of starting spots will be determined in fall practice, but the turnover will likely continue through the season and the incoming class gets some game reps. Big upgrades in tal

I think there will be mistakes but not from the veterans, it'll be the freshmen. But the talent upgrades are impossible to resist. Mizell, Andy Jean, and Eugene Wilson are all track fast, they'll make everyone else on the field look slow. I doubt the speed talent is on the Utah roster to deal with that level of speed. You almost have to play them. It'll be fun and terrifying at the same time.

Mertz will play his way out of the starting quarterback job in the first half of the season and Miller or Brown will take over.
Naturally we want to see the best options on the field as starters, but Napier's comments sound very much like its Mertz's job, and several comments have been made to the effect that Napier's offense requires game management and defensive reads more than it does arm talent. I think UF will be fine with any one of the three, whichever can avoid mistakes best.

If true (which I doubt), we might not win more than 4 games.
I still say too much is being made of the O&B game. Mertz was laughing in the post-game presser about how little of the playbook was available to them. He said it was basically 2 or 3 plays they just ran over and over. It should also be said that timing patterns take time, lot's of reps for the QB and receivers to get the route and pass timing down. Plus Eguakan and Mazzccua were both out, most of the pressure came from right up the middle where they would have been. I think Mertz will be OK and UF is likely to surprise a lot of folks.

How do you explain away his poor play at Wisconsin?

I hope he has a great year but I wish coach could have got us someone who is more proven.
