Is there an advantage or disadvantage to releasing or hiding a depth chart? Probably not. Certainly, it isn't a big advantage. Honestly though, over the last couple of years, with how dismal UF has been, it's really been one of the few things to look forward to on game week.

It didn't have anything to do with his coaching and predictable offense.

Good question, and I'm not sure.
To me, it seems there is more information in the depth chart than on some injury report - one tells you who is playing and the other tells you who is not, or maybe is not.
Seems like this is a protest reaction to the SEC mandate, which if I understand has more to do with betting on the games.
