I have to be honest. While the event, to be fair, hasn't begun yet, it is supposed to any minute now and the Gators' faithful have not exactly "showed out." The stands aren't empty, but they aren't close to full.

Todd Golden just spoke to the crowd and gave them the rundown for tonight.

Three-minute warmup, scrimmage, then three-point and dunk contests.

All of that will be followed by some fan events in which they can win different prizes. Shaping up to be a fun evening in the O'Connell Center.

Tyrese Samuel looks capable of taking the ball up the court, which could be a nice ripple for this team going forward.

For a big, he has good control and moves his feet well, even with the ball.

Finishing around the basket is going to be HUGE for this particular group. With a committee playing the 4 and 5, especially as young as they are, finishing around the basket is going to be a big factor in the group's success.

Kugel's settling for jump shots. Maybe just because it's a scrimmage, which is fair. Especially for your best player. But hopefully that doesn't extend into the regular season. This team needs him to be uber-agrressive all the time. Which is a lot to ask of a 19 year old, I know. But if he's the projected lottery pick some think he is, that should be an expectation. Especially on a team without a top-flight player in the country to over-shadow him.

Walter Clayton absolute dime to Richard on the fastbreak. He's looked much better than Pullin thus far, to me at least. I think that if they don't both start, it should be Clayton. I was of that belief before tonight and still am. I like the idea of starting Clayton, Richard, Kugel and two bigs. But I've heard that Golden wants to start two guards, which would shrink the starting lineup a lot.

I'll tell ya what. Will Richard has not only one of the cleanest-looking jumpers in the SEC, but probably in all of college basketball. It's textbook. He drains a 3 from the top of the key to put blue up 18-15 with just over 20 seconds to play.
