The #Gators held No. 1 Tennessee to 15 points in the first half - the fewest points the Volunteers have scored in a half this season. Tennessee made just four field goals and finished 0-12 from three. Chaz Lanier (20.3 PPG) had just two points.

First half observations:

- Florida proved it's able to control games with its defense. The Gators are known for their offensive ability - they're ranked No. 6 in offensive efficiency for a reason. However, against the No. 1 defense in the country, Florida knew it would have to step up on the other end of the court.
- Even without Walter Clayton, the Gators are still competitive. Clayton entered foul trouble early, and frankly, had a miserable first half. Despite the lackluster performance, several others stepped up like Denzel Aberdeen, who scored 10 points off the bench.
- Alex Condon is a huge reason why the Gators are in control of this game. He snagged five offensive rebounds and five defensive rebounds.
