He probably figured that since he wouldn't be drafted this year and probably would not start for us this year, his only hope for the future would be to go somewhere else where he might start. Good luck to him.

Some thoughts,

* Because of his size limitations, Leonard will always have to 'outplay' his stature. He isn't someone that you point to as a prototype at the position. Because of that, I didn't have high hopes for him, but as I posted three games into the season, to me he had been the most surprising player - https://insidethegators.com/forums/...-surprising-and-disappointing.1088/#post-5374

* I, of course, don't know the situation, but not asking him to stay doesn't necessarily mean that they didn't want him. Umanmielen, who was an All SEC performer, said that though the coaches wanted him back, they weren't exactly begging him to stay.

* Unless it was a straight numbers crunch, I would be surprised if they didn't want him to return. The interior of the offensive line wasn't Florida's biggest issue this season and to this point, no one has been able to beat him out for a starting spot. It is a hell of a gamble to have to depend on a player who wasn't good enough to win the job from him to be able to step in and play to his level, regardless of what you may think that level is. It wouldn't make sense to not keep him until someone proved capable of beating him out.
