Gators men's basketball vs. Virginia Game Thread

Florida's absolutely bullying Virginia down low. Getting wherever they want whenever they want. Threes are the only thing keeping the Cavs in this game early. If the Gators can limit Virginia's three-point opportunities, things could get messy quick. They can't stop Florida in the paint.
It's interesting how early Kugel's come out of both of these first two games. First substitution. I wish I was there in-person so I could ask Todd Golden about that trend in the postgame presser.
Gators offense looks dead without their starting frontcourt. Golden subbing Samuel and Handlogten back in. Kugel's been really bad so far. Especially with the second unit. He should be putting pressure on the defense at the very least, if shots aren't falling.
Micah's saved 6-8 points for Florida with his shot-blocking, at the least. This game looks a lot different without him. He's been the Gators' best player thus far tonight.
The Gators are two different teams with and without their starting frontcourt (Samuel, Handlogten) in.
Kugel is so absurdly athletic, he can get to the rim essentially whenever he wants. He just goes up so confidently — too confidently — that he tries to be fancy and avoids contact. Tonight, it's resulted in multiple missed layup opportunities.
Kugel's been bad defensively. Really lazy off the ball and not boxing out when shots go up. Caused the Virginia three on that last posession.
How do you guys feel about Samuel doing that? Personally, I like it. I don't love it, but I'm not super against it. This Florida team could use some dawg. And he's got it. That "don't help my guy up" mentality could be good for a team with a younger head coach like Golden.
Huge for Florida if Will Richard can get going. Great sign to see him knock down a pair of triples there
Samuel and Handolgten look like they've worked a lot together on their high-low game. Chemistry between bigs is huge for any team that chooses to start two of them in today's game. The two of them making eachother better on the court will be massive going forward as the season continues for Florida.
