As our insider told us over and over in the spring and fall camp, Florida doesn't have a deep passing game. The defender had a better shot at that ball. In SEC play, if you can't make them respect you intermediate to deep, defenses are going to stack the box and shut down the run.
Mertz finally throws the ball down the field. The running is nice, but it's not going to cut it against Tennessee.
Montrell Johnson is approaching 100 yards here in the first half, and he's only played two series.
If you're Mertz here, what's the message? You won't be able to run through Tennessee next week and with 37 seconds until the half you have 83 passing yards.
Florida goes over 200 yards rushing here in the first half and Florida has scored on all four possessions in the first half.
Damieon George takes his blocking assignment to the ground as the hole opens way up for Etienne on that TD run.
This doesn't happen often, but Florida is actually averaging more yards per rush (7.1) than they are averaging per pass (6.9)
