A couple of things...

* Florida fans aren't known for their patience.

* If you're Stricklin pleading for patience becayse your argument is the program has fallen so far, you're also responsible for hiring the coach who led the program to those depths.

* In the Transfer Portal age of college football, where it's basically free agency and initial counter numbers are no longer in play, rebuilds shouldn't take as long.

* I'm not sure progress can be based on the won/loss record this year, but improvement needs to be seen.

What's the counter mean?
It's an Initial Counter. It was a way to keep programs from taking big academic risks or running too many players off.

No matter the state of a football program's roster, they were limited to 25 Initial Entry Counters each fall (meaning only 25 prospects could enroll, unless you had less than that before, and you could count back early enrollees.

That cap is no longer in place. You can turnover your roster much faster now.
Hell, look at Colorado, they might have 50 kids coming in on scholarship.

That wouldn't have been possible with an Initial Counter cap.

We already have someone who is basically a part-time fundraiser; fire Strictland and offer the job to none other than Stephen Orr Spurrier; the greatest Gator in my lifetime (70 years). He would fire up the fanbase, stop some of our dumbass naysayers and bring the excitement that no one else can match to our program. Hire Spurrier for his lifetime calling, The University of Florida Athletic Director. Go Gators!
