I'm just saying he might be pretty good. But, in Napier's system, all he has to do is be a game manager and read the defense. Don't throw interceptions. My only worry about him is that he threw some in Wisconsin. I'm still secretly pulling for Max Brown to show up for fall practice with his war paint on.I guess he is until he proves differently.
That's funny b/c he hasn't been named UF's QB1 yet, that I've heard.Yet another ranking has Mertz projected as the worst starting quarterback in the SEC.
Bet Shane Matthews disagrees with this. The same idiots would have picked Felipe Franks over Kyle Trask. Reporters are only impressed by how far a QB can sling it, or how fast, how athletic they are. I am sure Napier puts a lot of stock in rankings like these.Yet another ranking has Mertz projected as the worst starting quarterback in the SEC.
The wrong coach?I'm in Mertz's corner. Everything I've read says he was in the wrong system and for the wrong coach. He's in the right system to succeed now under the right coach. Remember, too, the playbook was closed tight for the O & B game. I think this offense could surprise some people this season. He won't be able to utilize the WR's like Lagway will, but he'll have some pretty good slot receivers who can take it to the house anytime and a better running game than last years.
It's an opinion given by some Wisconsin fans and some coaches and some sportswriters. Most, of course, are following the prevailing narrative that Mertz didn't work out so he's a bum, which should make you happy. Just don't bother me anymore b/c you're too lazy to jump online and do some research of your very own. I'm fine with Napier, everything he's done, and Mertz if Napier thinks he can get it done. BTW, your left-handed "defense" of Mertz in the OP probably didn't fool anyone. You always have something negative to say about Napier and the program and your act is getting a bit stale. The wrong coach?
Compare Chryst's resume to Napier's.
Didn't Chryst develop Russell Wilson?
That's how I feel.I guess he is until he proves differently.
#3 recruiting class, rosters on both sides of the ball are dramatically improved, the Gator locker room is 100% positive and jacked, even the recruits talk about the vibe of the program, but some of the posters on this site are just depressing as hell. Always the most negative take they can find on any part of the program. I guess I'm going to use the ol' ignore button on another 3 or 4 so I can come here without wanting to slit my wrist's.That's how I feel.
He was mid for Wisconsin.
Until he shows us he can do it, I'm assuming he's going to be mid for us.
And you believe what any reporter (none of which has played organized ball) says when it comes to analyzing a player, especially the QB position. None of these clowns thought Trask would be good, they all thought because Felipe could throw it 70 yards he was All-World. Guess who said repeatedly who was the best QB (Trask) between Trask and Franks? Shane Matthews said it on multiple occasions. Guess who thinks Mertz will be successful here? Shane Matthews. Coach Spurrier repeatedly said that Trask would be improvement. Quit listening to reporter's opinions on players. They are good only for stats, injuries, etc.Read the story on the front page. Our own reporters don't think he is very good.
So that's it for you? A reporter says he's bad so you just follow along? I agree with one thing, this is allegedly a Gator site, but I don't often feel like I'm at a Gator site, I don't put that off on the reporters though, I put it off on poster's like you, who are apparently herd animals and would march en masse right off a cliff if it looked like the reporters did too. All reporters are trying to do nowadays is generate clicks, posts, and replies, and they don't care if those replies are favorable or not. That's how they convince the people who advertise here that it's a good deal for them, the number of clicks is what matters to document traffic. What you post is your responsibility and whether you're much of a Gator fan is too.Read the story on the front page. Our own reporters don't think he is very good.
