Say what you want about Dan Mullen but one thing you can't say about him is that he made a bad strength coach hire. Nick Savage had us playing fast and physical. Look at what he is doing at Ole Miss now. They went toe to toe with Alabama last week and were as physcial as the Tide. They did the same beating LSU last night.

I have never seen anyone punch us in the face like Kentucky did yesterday. We were whipped physically and that is all on the strength staff.

Savage did a lot of the same things that the strength coach under Meyer did. The midnight lifts and St. Patty day workout.

Watch Swamp Kings and you can see how much all of that means.

Savage had Watson losing weight. This new staff has him gaining another 50 pounds.

Yeah, this game reminded me of the Arkansas game a few years ago under McElwain where Arkansas won the line of scrimmage on both sides.
We know that McElwain didn't emphasize the S&C program.
I don't know if this is the case now or not.
A big part of getting beat up as Florida did in this game is mental.
Kentucky depth chart had a lot of SRs and JRs and Florida had undersized freshmen and transfers playing an SEC road game for the first time.
It's not a great excuse, but let's see what happens in the next couple of years, when Napier has his recruits that are more experienced.

I’m not sure this is discussed enough. Napier might not have the right strength coach and hopefully that’s something he sees and corrects.

Strength coach is so important particularly at the LOS where Napier place his emphasis. It's one of if not the most important hire for him and I'm shocked if that didn't work out. Hocke has been with him for a long time and comes from Alabama. He at least knows what it looks like.

They've been together so long that it will very difficult to for Napier to replace him. Although, I don't know how popular his is with the players.

Didn't the site do something where the player said that the hardest part of the old staff leaving was Savage leaving? That he is the one the players wanted to stay the most.

That could be why Watson gained weight. He turned to food in all of the upheavel?

This needs to be asked about because every top SEC team has played more physical than us for 2 years except for Tennessee this year. That's because our crowd threw them off.

We're not going to compete if we get pushed around like we do.

Our guys like McClellan and Watson look like they are in worse shape than they were last year.
