An Interesting Proposal

I've spent some time watching some game tape reviews from people who know more about football than me.
There have been some interesting things that come up in watching them, and one had a set of options of what to do going forward with an added proposal.
The three options given (toward the end) were (1) fire Napier, (2) fire Stricklin and (3) fire Stricklin and Napier.
Now the interesting fourth option was to decouple the football operations from the athletic department, and create a board of directors composed of former players, coaches (Spurrier), etc., and let them decide what to do and who to hire in the position of GM and coach.
I think college football, and maybe basketball and baseball, are heading in this direction, at least for the elite programs in the SEC and Big10.
Who knows what the future will look like, but i can't see a way around the players unionizing and collectively bargaining with whatever entity exists in the future.
In any case, I think for the immediate future, there should be some sort of NFL model of running a team, with a GM, maybe hired by the AD or president, or better yet the board of directors, as proposed, and then the GM would hire the coach and acquire the players.
I also thought that maybe Napier may be more suited for this GM role should the decision come to whether or not to pay his buyout.
He can still be payed to work in a different role.
