Florida football fall camp Media Day

Beginning at approximately 12:30 p.m. Florida's Report Day Media Availability will begin.

The following will meet with the media today:

* OL Austin Barber, DL Tyreak Sapp, K Trey Smack
* Director of Football Strength & Conditioning Tyler Miles
* Offensive Coordinator / Tight Ends Russ Callaway
* Executive Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator Ron Roberts
* Special Teams Coordinator Joe Houston
* Head Coach Billy Napier

We are about to get underway here at the Heavener Football Facility for the first Media Day of the season. First up to the podium is Strength and Conditioning Coach Tyler Miles.

"The team gained 700 pounds of muscle this season, compared to 580 pounds last year. We lost around 200ish pounds of fat which is less then last year but I think it's because we had less fat to lose. " Tyler Miles on the weight difference from the team.

"Cormani has put on 20-25 pounds since he arrived at Florida. He had a goal of hitting 190 in body weight and he just did that this last week. He's matured and he is using his brain more, he is thinking on his own." Tyler Miles on Cormani McClain this offseason.

 

[ChristianAlvis]

"Jadan Baugh had a fantastic summer. We have a pound for pound rating and he is not only the strongest guy on the team but the strongest since we have started this metric." Tyler Miles on Jadan Baugh.

Next up on the podium is Tight Ends Coach and Offensive Coordinator Russ Callaway.

"At the end of the day is about getting the best 11 on the field. It's about getting as many people as we can involved. We have the receivers and running backs and tight ends all doing things outside of their comfort zone. I think its going to allow us to do more." Russ Callaway on the depth of the offense.

"His high school tape was obviously really good. And then he goes out and does what he does on the field. He played through a bunch of things. I think by the second or third game I think I realized he could be something. You saw when we did the walkthrough last year before Stamford that this kid is phenomenal." Russ Callaway on when he realized how good DJ Lagway could be.

" We feel comfortable at every position. We feel comfortable with guys making plays at all positions, which allows the offense to be more open because the defense can't lock in on one or two guys." Russ Callaway on the evolution of the offense from last year.

Next on the podium is Defensive Coordinator Ron Roberts.

"He says he feels great. He is still rehabbing but he looks outstanding. He had a great fall camp and he's a really good player. He can be a game changer." Ron Roberts on Jamari Lyons and his injury.

 

[ChristianAlvis]

" Last year they were freshman and even afraid to talk. They are leaps ahead of where they were. Those two have had an outstanding offseason and summer." Ron Roberts on Aaron Chiles and Myles Graham.

 

[ChristianAlvis]

"Our linebacker room I think is as deep as anyone in the country. I think we are sitting on 3 or 4 NFL level guys. We have had two freshman come in that are both talented. We just need to get those guys comfortable." Ron Roberts on the linebacker room.

Next up on the podium is Special Teams Coordinator Joe Houston.

"We are looking for every competitive advantage we can get. The idea was more from Coach Napier. There is not much steam to it. I don't have a crystal ball but I don't see it going much further." Joe Houston in trying out Olivier Rioux on special teams.

 

[ChristianAlvis]

"Tommy is made for this. He has gone over and beyond any expectation we have had for him. He has playoff experience winning a national championship with Michigan. Can't say enough good things about him." Joe Houston on new punter Tommy Doman.

Last up to the podium is Head Coach Billy Napier.
