Two years ago, I would have said there is no downside to having a former P5 offensive coordinator on the support staff. It is overall a positive to have that type of experience and knowledge as a support staff member. What could it possibly hurt?
Now though, is there such a thing as too many chefs in the kitchen?
If they carry over from last year, that means Florida has three former offensive coordinators on the support staff. Assuming none of them are ready for retirement, they want to return to a coaching staff. They want their ideas to previal. Does it lead to ego getting in the way?
Does it lead to confusion? Indecision?
If it were a head coach such as Nick Saban or Kirby Smart, who has seen a super level of success, then okay, you figure they are strong enough to handle it. Is Napier? If they see the knives coming out for him, do they try to save themselves? What form would that take?
Then there's the defense.
After listening to both Napier and Roberts, I would love to see an organizational flow chart for this side of the ball.
Is Roberts, the head coach of the defense, at the top, or is it Armstrong, the defensive coordinator? Are they equals? If there is a disagreement, who prevails? How does that work? I honestly don't know, and I'm not 100% certain either of them know.

You can't write stuff like that because it makes you negative. Everyone is wrong except for coach Napier. Forget his two losing seasons he's got this all figured out.
