Look at what Kiffin is doing at Ole Miss.
You don't think he would kill it here?
You don't think he would kill it here?
You can be a fan, a really big fan, and not be happy with the job Napier has done so.I'm not trying to defend coach Napier or make it look like he has done a good job and I'm not against talking about other coaches but until coach actually gets fired I think it's time to stop wishing for Kiffin or Fisch and give Napier a chance this season. It doesn't help our recruiting for the fans to always bash coach Napier.
We need to define and have a talk about what a fan is.You can be a fan, a really big fan, and not be happy with the job Napier has done so.
Do you think we are the only team where our players and coaches are working hard?We need to define and have a talk about what a fan is.
A fan is someone who supports the team unconditionally.
Do you think that coaches and players aren't trying their hardest?
Do you think you or some fan wants to win more than the players and coaches?
This is the discussion we need to have before the season starts.Do you think we are the only team where our players and coaches are working hard?
Should Napier get to keep his job if he is working hard but we are still losing?
I am as big a fan as anyone but that doesn't mean I have to cheer on and promote bad play and coaching.
Yes.This is the discussion we need to have before the season starts.
I love Florida. I want to see us win. Does being unhappy with us losing make me less of a fan?
I love Florida win or lose but I will be critical of coaches making millions while losing and players who get every benefit but aren't doing a good enough job.Yes.
I get that. This is always an interesting back-and-forth between different factions of the fan base.
Regardless of whether you are positive or negative by nature, I truly believe that those who post about UF football on here, show up in the Swamp on Saturdays, or schedule their week around the Gator games, is a true blue die-hard fan.
Yes, those who are only positive are hardcore fans.
Yes, those who get upset with losses are hardcore fans.
Yes, coaches and players care about wins and losses.
Yes, fans, both positive and negative care about wins and losses.
I will say, and I've been around them after wins and losses, for the most part, coaches and players don't take losses anywhere near as hard as die-hard fans do.
Coaches, yes they want to win to earn their paycheck and they have a competitive fire, but they don't live and die with what happens on a Florida football Saturday like a true (orange and) blue UF fan does. Check out their bios. For some of them, this is their 8th-10th stop. For the most part, they are hired guns. The chances are, you have been a UF fan for your entire life. For the right amount of money, those coaches will be with a different team at this time next year, while being a Gator fan is a lifelong buy-in.
So, yes, I do believe that fans 'love' Florida football to a deeper extent than the average player or coach does.
