A week ago Florida joined the likes of Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Penn State and Tennessee in offering Tampa (Fla.) Sumner four-star offensive tackle Ziyare Addison.
The 6-foot-5, 270-pounder visited Florida back in the spring and plans on returning to campus for a game this fall.
QUICK Q&A
Did you have a favorite college team (or player) growing up?
“Cam Newton and my team was Auburn.”
Out of your early offers is there one or two that really caught your attention? A ‘wow’ moment?
“No ‘wow’ moment yet. I really have been putting in the work and working on my craft to be the best offensive tackle in the country. I joined the wrestling team and run track to help with my stamina and pad level. My uncle told me to trust the process and every top school in the country will be recruiting me. He was right!”
How did the Florida offer come about? Who did you communicate with and what did they have to say to you?
“Coach [Darnell] Stapleton. He told me they love my athleticism and the way I compete.”
What are your early impressions of Florida?
“I like the Florida program and I’m looking forward to getting to know the coaching staff better.”
What were a couple of your favorite visits?
“Oklahoma, FSU, Miami, Auburn, and UCLA.”
You also already visited Florida. What was that like?
“I visited Florida back in the spring, and it was an okay visit. They didn’t know much about me at the time, and I was just starting to get on their radar. I’m sure next time I visit, it will be a much different experience.”
What was the highlight of that visit?
“Watching the offensive line compete during 1-on-1. I love watching offensive linemen compete.”
What did you think of the new facility?
“I didn’t get a tour. I just came up to watch practice and met the head coach.”
Do you have any plans to see any schools for a game this fall?
“FSU, Auburn, Oregon, USC, Clemson, Ole Miss, and possibly Penn State.”
Will you make a trip to Florida?
“Yes. Tennessee or FSU game.”
It’s still early, but do you have any leaders or are there a couple of programs that you know will be there until the very end for whatever reason?
“FSU, Oklahoma, Auburn, Miami, and UCLA.”
What’s going to be important to you when you make your choice?
“A lot of factors will play into which schools I attend coach style, scheme, alumna, and atmosphere will be key factors in my decision. My family is going to help me make a decision as well.”
Addison is the No. 237 ranked prospect in the nation according to the On3 Consensus.
