Lake City (S.C.) South Florence four-star defensive lineman Amare Adams is still putting together his travel plans for the fall, but hopes to make a trip to Gainesville to see the Gators after Florida extended an offer to the 6-foot-6, 250-pound big man.

QUICK Q&A

Did you have a favorite college team (or player) growing up? If so, who and why?
“My favorite college football player was Aaron Donald because of the way he was a leader and the way he worked harder than everyone else. It just inspired me to be that way and be a leader.”

Out of your early offers is there one or two that really caught your attention? A ‘wow’ moment?
“Really all of them caught my attention.”

You have some impressive early offers, from the likes of Alabama and Georgia, but your South Carolina offer is the one push pinned to the top of your page. Why?
“I put them in it because I grew up a fan of them and not only that I have a good relationship with the players and coaches.”

How did the Florida offer come about? Who did you communicate with and what did they have to say to you?
“They offered me on the phone. The person I was communicating with was coach [Kali] James. He was just telling me to keep grinding and they liked the way I play.”

What are your early impressions of Florida?
“My impression about the Florida offer was I was excited.”

What are some of the campus visits you’ve taken and what were a couple of your favorites?
“I’ve visited South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Florida State, and LSU. I really liked all my visits.”

Do you have any set plans to see any schools for a game this fall? If so, who?
“Not really, but I’m looking forward to catching a couple of games this year.

Do you have a planned trip to Florida?
“No Sir, not that I know of, but I’m definitely looking forward to getting up there.”

It’s still early, you named a top seven last month, but do you have any leaders or are there a couple of programs that you know will be there until the very end for whatever reason?
“I’m not sure yet.”

What’s going to be important to you when you make your choice?
“What’s going to be important to me is the relationship with the players and coaches and getting playing time my freshman year.”

Adams is the No. 133 ranked prospect in the nation according to the On3 Consensus.
