Hattiesburg (Ms.) 2025 four-star defensive tackle Kevin Oatis has been on a roll this spring, garnering offers from the likes of Florida, LSU, Oregon, Penn State to go with offers from the likes of Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M.
The 6-foot-1, 290-pounder is already fast developing a relationship with Gators’ defensive line coach Sean Spencer and plans on visiting UF over the summer.
QUICK Q&A
Did you have a favorite college team (or player) growing up? If so, who and why?
“I really didn’t. For real, I just liked who won when I was young.”
You have some impressive early offers, but is there one or two that really caught your attention? A ‘wow’ moment?
“Some ‘wow’ ones were Georgia, and really all of the long-distance teams because they really see what I’m doing from a far distance, and it’s a blessing.”
How did the Florida offer come about? Who did you communicate with and what did they have to say to you?
“The offer came because I called the coach about a camp and we had a great conversation and then I talked to the defensive line coach, Coach [Sean] Spencer. He said I have been on their radar and they like what I’m doing. And, he offered me.”
What are your early impressions of Florida?
“I like how they spoke to me like we were cool. They were just cool with me.”
Do you have any plans to see any schools over the summer?
“I will be going to camps. I definitely will be at Florida soon.”
It’s still early, but do you have any leaders or are there a couple of programs that you know will be there until the very end for whatever reason?
“Right now the leaders are Texas A&M, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss because they are the only schools I’ve really visited.”
What’s going to be important to you when you make your choice?
“The thing about me is I want to go to a school not just because of the name, but for what they can do for me and develop me.”
Oatis is the No. 103 ranked prospect in the nation according to the On3 Consensus.
