Still wish we had Brian Kelly?

Look how patience with Mike Norvell has worked out for the Noles. Norvell was 3-6, then 5-7, then 10-3 last year and made LSU look awful last night after Kelly's start of his second year. I was at the UGA vs UT-Martin and Carson Beck did not look good at all against a D-2 team and Ga looked very beatable this year. All of the Jackasses on the fire Napier train just need to STFU. Has he done a good job so far? Not yet on the field, but everything we are building will look better if we don't jump the gun and fire yet another coach. The Brian Kelly hire doesn't look quite as great now does it?

You are setting yourself up here.

I would rather have Kelly over Napier.

Kelly is 10-5 at LSU. Napier is 6-8 at UF.

Kelly beat Napier last year.

Kelly will probably beat Napier this year.

FSU will probably beat us as bad this year.

Kelly recruits as good as Napier.

Where do you see Napier being better?

If you actually read the post it was about giving him time like FSU gave Norvell, who sucked the 1st two years. The title was clickbait.

I don't know if Brian Kelly would have been a great fit for Florida, or that Napier would have been for LSU.

Right now Kelly is considered to be a better, more established head coach than Napier.

Will that be true four or five years down the road?

Who knows.

Napier needs to pick it up though.

He does need to pick it up, but at this point his record at UF is better than Norvell's was at FSU.

Norvell has been a Cinderella story for sure. After losing to Jacksonville State and then having that defensive lineman call him out on social media I thought the writing was on the wall. The best thing that happened to him was basically free agency coming to college football, and they revamped their NIL initiative.

I don't know that anyone would put money on anyone else being able to follow that path.

For every Norvell, who has succeeded after a terrible start, there are 10 other coaches who never recovered. Isn't it just as likely that Napier becomes one of them?

No one knows the answer, but wanting a coach fired after just 14 games has the making to make UF one of the more undesirable jobs in College Football. My entire point is that Norvell got the time following a disaster of a coaching job by Taggert and we need to give Napier the same; his record after the same number of games is better.

Napier is not even close to being replaced. Let's do what we can to make him successful. Bitching and moaning is counterproductive.

One upside to Napier is that, if it works out, he could be here for a long time. I really hope it works out. I like him and his approach. He's had a lot of bad luck so far though.

It hasn't worked out yet on the field and unfortunately we weren't shown improvement at Utah but he's a good coach and will get time to make it work, at least through year 3 and I would guess year 4 too but we have to eventually see something exciting on the field.

Clearly Brian Kelly is a better coach right now than Napier. Napier might be as good when he's 60, we will see.

It's not good for any of us that all of our main rivals are doing very well. Meyer benefited greatly from FSU and Miami being down and beating UGA consistently. Napier isn't going to have that benefit. LSU, FSU, UGA are monsters and Tennessee is ascending for sure. Spurrier had to deal with elite FSU and Tennessee teams but not so much LSU and Georgia.

And the next championship Kelly actually wins will be his first.

LSU didn't look good against FSU and you said UGA didn't look good against a DII team and looks very beatable. If we still lose to them then what does that say to you about Napier?

The most important word you wrote was if. If we lose to UGA then they are still better than us, if we lose to FSU, then they are better than us also. The point of my statement was the FSU people were patient with Norvel, winning 3 games his first year then 5 games his second year and then 10 last year. Some of us Gator fans are morons for wanting him gone right now; I am not one of them.

Kelly was the closest coach there has been to the next urban meyer. Took central or western Michigan to an undefeated season. Took cincy to the big 4 bowl game against Tebow… then took the notre dame job which is tough to win at. Heck of a coach but seemingly a strange dude.
