OSU offered his buddy Chance Robinson. If he flips from Miami to the Bucks we can forget about any chance we had.
Neither of us can know how it would play out, but my take on Jeremiah Smith is he does his thing for his reasons alone. I would say his relationship with Lagway means more in this situation than the one with Robinson. Da U is a leaking ship in deep water so Robinson may well flip, I just think it wouldn't make or break the deal with Smith, plus we know he likes UF. Lagway has a cannon and Smith is probably hearing about all the speed UF is recruiting to the receiver room. World class track quality speed in Andy Jean, Mizell, Wilson, and Jerrae Hawkins this class you can't double up on that many receivers. He'll probably see more single-coverage at UF than anywhere else. JMO.
He grew up in the same neighborhood playing ball with Robinson but you think him talking to DJ a few times means more? You think our WR group is anywhere near OSU's?
I know you are positive about everything but that sounds crazy.
If we get him I think it would be because why would he want to go to OSU to have to go up against all their receivers when he could come here and be guarenteed a starting job?
Besides Smith OSU has 7 receivers who were in the top 100 in the last 3 classes.

They have more top 100 receivers than we have top 100 players total.

Elite athletes don't think that way, most of them have never lost at anything. But he's deciding right now if Napier and staff can put enough talent together to win championships. He and Lagway have complimentary skillsets, now if UF can put some scary good receivers on the field with him he'll see a lot of single coverage which he knows he'll beat. OSU can't put as much speed on the field at one time as UF will. Smith knows what that means for him. I'm sure UF has his attention.
The only way we get Smith is if we outbid the Buckeyes.

First, Lagway has a cannon and can get the ball to the receiver regardless how far downfield he is. Second, UF can put more receiver speed on the field than anyone else and especially by 2024, which directly affects how often Smith will see single coverage. He keeps coming back for a reason, he see's Billy Napier recruiting to an offensive model that works for him.
Smith has visited UF more than he has OSU. Fact. Same thing for Robinson. I think there's a football season for them to play and UF and OSU, so I think the Smith deal is going to go to the wire, December, and probably Robinson too. The way I see it, OSU is in the crosshairs and UF is the hunter who's getting closer. Right now, time is our friend.
Smith is the number 1 player in the class and has nobody to fear but thinking he would get single coverage at UF more than Ohio state when they have better receivers and a (current) better qb prospect starting his first year than we do is unlikely.
