I imagine us hiring an inexperienced coach and giving him a co DC title didn't help.
This is the first thing I thought of when Sunseri hire was announced. Secondary was great last year yet we seemingly overlook a proven good coach, already on staff, and give a co-DC title to someone with no history at UF and very little experience.

If Harris leaves, my worst fears confirmed.

We need to hire coaches that are loyal to us and only us. How are Maimi recruits going to take him at his word when he so easily left us and them for another job. His word is shot.

This isn't at all related to Will Harris, but coaches in general -- coaches are loyal to the paycheck they receive from the program they are working for, not the program itself. When it comes to a majority of them, for them to spend more than a couple of years at a single program is rare.

Look at their bios. They can have 6-7 jobs in a decade.

If you are stating that prospects shouldn't trust Harris because he moved on, then you have to have the same stance on a coach like Sunseri, who was recruiting for Washington last year, Jacksonville State for several months, and is now recruiting for Florida. If they are doubting Harris, then how can a prospect trust his word when he's had three stops in six months?

Coaches move around. That's part of the profession. I don't blame anyone, player or coach, for leaving for what they think is a better opportunity.

I can see why Sunseri left Washington for a promotion at JSU, and then JSU for UF. He felt it was a better opportunity. The question is why would Harris believe Miami is a better opportunity than Florida? Is it money? Lifestyle? Something else?

There were rumblings about Harris before Sunseri was hired, but that absolutely could be part of it. You did a damn good job, and you see someone less experienced come in and get a Co-DC title. Even if it is a title, it is still a resume builder.

I could be wrong on this, but I get the impression that Napier fires people by not announcing it publicly, but letting them find other jobs elsewhere and leaving. Toney comes to mind - it didn't make sense to me that he would leave a DC position for a lesser position in the NFL. The exceptions were Spencer and Raymond last year who I heard were undermining what Napier was trying to do. So if this is true, how do we know it wasn't Napier who asked Harris to move on for whatever reason? What was strange to me about the Sunseri hire was that it gave Florida 12 coaches with Sunseri overlapping Harris in the secondary. The old rule was 11 on-field coaches were allowed, but that was changed to allow unlimited coaches on staff. The only limit now is you can only have 11 off-field recruiting staff. So maybe it was Harris that was told to move on before Sunseri was hired?

Every job expects employees to be loyal. We can't? There should be a big buyout that Miami has to pay if he wants to bounce on us.

Why do they want him is my thing.

They saw Ward light up our secondary last year and they want the coach that was responsible for letting him throw for 400 yards.
Really, one game and the first game at that. Ward was spot on during that game. They want him because they feel he is an upgrade to their staff.

My question is why we wanted Sunseri. Unless something went on with Harris behind the scenes, I for one think that it is a bad look for the makeup of the staff. The secondary was on fire for the last part of the season except for the Texas game, and that could be attributed to the lack of offense by us and they wore out.
