Well, it hasn't happened, so why the doom and gloom?
I was responding to the prospect of regression in year 2. If our defense improves a decent amount I’m hopeful for 8-4. Our O line and QB play seem the determining factor and hope they’re up to the challenge. I’m pumped for lagway though, kid should be a 5 star and day 1 starter for us.

UF will probably be the youngest roster in the SEC, and they have a brutal schedule, so I would be happy at 7-5 if it gets a bowl game for the freshmen and sophomores some additional practices and some game reps. If UF is competitive in every game they will have made astounding improvement compared to last year. That's just my opinion. There are alleged Gator fans out there who expect 10-2 or they want Napier fired. This is year 2 of the re-build, and I think we just need to remember that.

The FSU hype is false. It's akin to Miami hype over the years.

FSU had a decent record, pretty good but not great QB play and a very easy schedule but were hardly dominant in any game. They have a decent QB and some nice portal pieces and will have a good record because of their schedule. They will probably be 10-2 or 9-3. But, it they had our schedule, they would 7-5 or 6-6.

I hope we kick their 8-3 butts and put an 8-4 on them.

They also have a really good coach. Norvell turned Memphis around before he came to FSU, and it looks like he's close to turning a corner with that program. It was a real shame the way FSU admin treated him when they shamelessly chased Neon Deon with no regard for what they were doing to Norvell and his recruiting class. He hit the portal hard again and saved his roster, but no thanks to his bosses. Overall, you don't get the quality recruits from the portal you do recruiting high school programs so they may have taken a step back in their talent pool and, you're right, their schedule is nothing like UF. UF might struggle their way into the FSU game with a 6-5 record, and FSU may well look past them.

The fan base is really going to lose its mind if our qb play is awful. Napier brought in mertz, so his successes or failures in this year are on him. Can’t wait for lagway to start day 1!

Lately, all our fanbase does is lose their minds pretending to know something that's wrong. They're embarrassing. I think all Napier wants Mertz to do is manage the game. Read the defense and take what they give you, and that could be enough. For all the talent, AR was missing reads in every game,
