While recruiting high school talent is still king, in the Transfer Portal era, the notion that it takes 3-4-5 years to turn around a program simply isn't valid anymore.

There was an earlier post "Recruiting high school talent still matters most".
It seems like these two methods of program building are mutual exclusive.
I agree a program can win immediately through the use of the transfer portal, but in doing so, is the program truly "turned around"?
One can ask FSU how they are doing with turning their program around.
I still think that to build a program for long term sustained success, you have to do it through HS recruiting and not rely on the portal.
