Did Stricklin look at Lanning or Venables before hiring Billy Napier?

I can't remember back to how it all unfolded.

Was it Billy Napier from the start or did Scott Stricklin look around some?

Did we interview the Oregon or Oklahoma coach?

They are great recruiters and have built great teams on the field.

They are both in the top ten in their second year,

They both have obviously turned out well, but I would imagine that because of the failures of the last 3 coaches, he probably wanted only someone who had Head Coaching experience. I feel pretty confident that Strickland's career at UF will be tied to Napier's success. Wow though, Lanning's pregame speech when they played Dion and Colorado was just amazing. With all that being said, I hope Napier shuts us all up and runs the rest of the regular season table.

We are paying Napier $7 million to go .500. Why wouldn't we add a couple of million for CFP appearances?
He also was given a mansion and exclusive use of 2 private jets for his family whenever he wants.
As to why wouldn’t we? We had the chance to offer him a contract as he and Brian Kelly reached out about our interest. Appears there was some reason!

I belive it was all Napier but Lanning took over a program that was already built and running well. So it’s not exactly apples to apples.
I'm watching them again tonight and Lanning is doing a terrific job building Oregon.

He has them in the top 10 and we're celebrating close losses.
