I first took a look at this over the July 4th weekend, but then I wanted to get a S&C coach to share some thoughts on numbers that impressed and didn\'t impress him before I published it. So, it\'s a week late, but with better context, I believe.
To put the 450 pound bench into perspective, going by the leaderboard shown above, that is a receiver benching 45 more pounds than the strongest Florida offensive and defensive linemen.
That\'s a 285-pound clean for Mertz. On the leaderboard shown on Inside the Swamp, Lagway held the top spot at quarterback with 285-pounds himself (though it\'s a given Lagway has increased his max as well).
That looks like 495-pounds. In the This is the Swamp video, he was sitting atop the safety board at 435-pounds as a true freshman. This is a 60-pound gain in a matter of a couple of months.
