Despite living less than two hours from campus, Lake Mary (Fla.) three-star receiver Brian Williams Jr. had never visited the University of Florida until just last month.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder spent most of his time around Gators’ wide receiver coach Billy Gonzales, but got to speak with the head man as well.
“I mainly talked with Coach Billy G and had a good talk with Coach [Billy] Napier,” said Williams Jr.. “They talked about the ways they would use me and how incredible of a player they think I am, as well as the immense amount of talent I posses.”
It was a full day visit, which included what takes place on a routine visit, as well as being able to take in a UF spring practice session.
According to Williams Jr., the visit exceeded expectations, and two aspects of the trip stuck out the most to him.
“That was my first time there and I expected a lot, but it was definitely more than what I expected,” he said. I was impressed. Definitely meeting the coaches and touring the campus [were highlights]. “It’s absolutely beautiful.”
Though he resides in a state famous for its college football programs, Williams Jr. said that he didn’t like any of them. When asked if he had a favorite college team growing up, he replied,
“No, I was just always a fan of players, never teams. I loved Julio Jones. I’ve always been a fan of Tee Higgins. I’ve watched a lot of Nicco Collins and Josh Palmer is a slept on guy that I study a lot.”
Over the last month and a half Williams Jr. has picked up offers from the likes of Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Wisconsin.
According to Williams Jr., he has three official visit dates set: Florida (5/30), Vanderbilt (6/6), and Syracuse (6/13), but no leader.
“No particular leaders,” he said. “I just really love the schools who truly want me and believe in me.”
Williams Jr. is the No. 1,145 rated prospect in the nation according to the On3 Industry Composite.
