Before moving ahead full force with the Class of 2023, there’s time for a short history lesson. Since they had such a narrow window to recruit, we didn’t include Billy Napier’s 2022 partial signing class in this. Regardless of how many hundreds of offers go out, this is where Florida’s offical visitors and eventual high school signees have hailed from over the last three full cycles.

  • Over the last three cycles, while Florida has signed a high school prospect from 14 states and one country outside of the US (Germany), 77% of signees have come from either Florida or Georgia
  • There are four states that Florida has signed a prospect from in each of the three cycles: Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Texas
  • The ‘One Off’ states where Florida has signed a prospect in just one of the three cycles: Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia
  • Though Will Norman is listed as from New Jersey, the two sides became interested in each other while he was at IMG Academy

SUNSHINE STATE RECRUITING

  • 33-of-60 signees (55%) have come from instate. That is about on par with what you would expect. Maybe a little higher if Florida was winning more and dominating headlines
  • Under Billy Napier Florida has gotten back to its roots. Historically, the Gators have been strong across the I4 cooridor, up into Jacksonville. Have cherry picked South Florida and have basically been shut out out in the Panhandle.

PEACH STATE RECRUITING

  • Georgia is the second biggest producer of UF players over the last three cycles, with 13-of-60 (22%) signees hailing from the Peach State
  • The staff has done a great job, much better than you would expect, in the North Georgia, metro Atlanta region. Not just in numbers, but pulling highly rated prospects such as Aaron Gates, Jadan Baugh, Marcus Mascoll and Joseph Mbatchou from the area
  • On the flip side, they don’t have the numbers, or quality, you might expect out of South Georgia

  • The main takeaway here is how little Florida and Florida State have battled for serious targets over the last three years
  • Georgia, and then Alabama, Auburn and Texas are the programs that have signed the most Florida official visitors
