Inside the Gators asked Florida commitments and targets for their thoughts on the Gators’ 23-17 loss to Tennessee. Find out what eight targets, including four-star commits Vernell Brown III and Jalen Wiggins, and targets Jarius Rodgers and Jayden Petit as well as others, thought of the game.
- 2025 three-star offensive line target Daniel Pierre Louis
I didn’t get to watch the game, but I know that Florida fought hard until the end. Although they came up short, they fought hard and well!
- 2026 three-star defensive back target Danny Odem
My thoughts are even with the loss it was a great battle between two very good teams I specifically think the defense did a good job not letting Nico [Iamaleava] get hot. There were big third downs where the defensive line got sacks and big downs where the defensive backs got pbus.
- 2025 three-star defensive back Kaylib Singleton [Rutgers commit]
I feel like they fought hard against a hard opponent. I felt the cornerbacks did pretty decent, they had a little hiccup they can easily fix. UF is impressing me every week win or lose. They have definitely focused up, and it’s showing.
- 2026 four-star receiver Jayden Petit
I thought Florida did pretty well. They made it a very competitive game and the wide receivers played well.
- 2025 four-star defensive end commit Jalen Wiggins
I believe there were lots of factors that led to the loss offensively. The team looks much better, especially at my position [defensive line] controlling the run and rushing the passer. [Coming up] I’ll be at all the home games for UF and at Notre Dame on November 9th for an official visit.
- 2027 unranked tight end Grant Haviland
I thought Florida played really well. As a tight end, I was happy to see how they utilized the tight ends in the passing game and was excited to see one of them get in the endzone.
- 2026 four-star defensive end Jarius Rodgers
Florida played great. Even though it didn’t go the way they wanted it to go they definitely are getting better throughout the season and the defensive ends where putting pressure on the quarterback and making it very hard for Tennessee to get a pass off.
- Four-star receiver commit Vernell Brown III
Overall, I think we played pretty good. We had a few mistakes, but we fought hard until the end. I think the receivers had a pretty good game. They were making plays when the opportunity presented itself.
