Inside the Gators asked Florida commitments and targets for their thoughts on the Gators’ 33-20 loss to Texas A&M. Find out what 18 visitors, including four-star commit Naeshaun Montgomery, and four-star targets Elijah Golden and Jayden Petit, as well as others, thought of the game.

  • 2026 four-star receiver Somourian Wingo Jr.

I feel like Florida has a lot to improve obviously, and I know they will. And I just feel like we can’t blame everything on the coaches. Florida also has the hardest schedule in college and it’s only gone make them better.

  • 2026 unranked offensive lineman Steven Pickard Jr.

I wish they would have come away with a victory. It would have been huge for the program. Regarding where the program stands right now, there is a lot of football left to be played. The players and coaches do not put in all of the hard work and endless hours of preparation to hang it up after week three.

  • 2026 four-star receiver Cederian Morgan

I love the atmosphere! They’ve [Florida] got a great chance with me.

  • 2025 four-star wide receiver commit Naeshaun Montgomery

The most important thing for me is seeing DJ Lagway get better and better every week. As a recruit, you never want to hear fans turning against a coach. Good thing I don’t judge off of other people’s feelings.

  • 2026 four-star defensive lineman Preston Carey

They need to keep working hard. It was hard to see the loss but I know they will bounce back. I had a great day in the Swamp.

  • 2026 four-star defensive end Elijah Golden

Even though they lost, they didn’t give up. They kept fighting back. The team has a lot of young guys, they will bounce back from this loss.

  • 2026 four-star safety Lasiah Jackson

I think it was a tough loss by Flordia. The defense wasn’t making enough tackles and tempo was killing them in the first half. Florida still has a chance to make a decent run, they just have a really tough schedule.

  • 2027 unranked receiver Kaneilius Purdy (Florida offer)

It was good. Florida just needs to get better and work at practice.

  • 2027 unranked quarterback William Jackson

They are still at the top of my list! I love the location, I love the school and I love the football environment!

  • 2026 three-star linebacker Kaden Henderson

I loved the overall environment. They had great people all around and were very welcoming. Even though they did lose today and against Miami, I believe they will start to pick it up as the season progresses. And there’s no doubt I will definitely be back in the Swamp again!

It felt great to be offered. I grew up watching them and now seeing how it can be me on the field on Saturdays feels great.

  • 2026 unranked cornerback Herlin Perry Jr.

On the positive side, they show a lot of glimpses of progression every week.

  • 2026 four-star safety CJ Hester

I wish the outcome was that Florida came out on top, but Florida still stands high. It’s kind of shocking to think the fans don’t like the coach.

  • 2026 three-star safety commit Devin Jackson

I feel that Florida has a lot of potential and will eventually show everyone, despite the negative energy from other people. I just feel like it’s their love for the game that makes them feel that way and at the heat of the moment they say things they don’t mean because no one likes losing or being beat, especially in the sport of football.

  • 2026 four-star defensive end Jarius Rodgers

They had a tough loss vs a tough SEC opponent, but at the end of the day it’s not about how you lose it’s about how you react to it and learn from it. They have great coaches and great players and I believe they will put something together by the end of the season. In my opinion players and coaches must be able to zone out what the fans think. And seeing how the coach responded to that was great just ignoring that and focusing on the game .

  • 2026 four-star receiver Jayden Petit

I thought Florida played hard during the second half. They made it a closer game in the fourth quarter, but unfortunately couldn’t pull off the come back. Being 1-2 is not the way you want to start the season, but the season has just started and you still have time to change the season outcome.

  • 2026 three-star offensive lineman Mike Ionata

Sucks that they lost, but you can see great things from the team and you know they are going to learn from this loss.

  • 2026 four-star linebacker Adam balogoun-Ali

Nobody expected Florida to be a championship caliber team immediately. I still feel good about Florida and think they’ll be good in the upcoming years.

  • 2026 three-star receiver DJ Williams

I think they will bounce back. They still have a lot of talent on that team and the coaches should adjust a few things to get them locked in.

  1. None of the recruits are turning against us. None of them hate that we are losing. If we can keep them and still be able to sign a good class even if Napier is fired the next coach will be set up.
