Despite still being in his sophomore year, Fort Pierce (Fla.) Vero Beach 2026 offensive lineman Micah Smith is already one of the most highly sought after prospects in the southeast. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound tackle already holds over 20 offers, including from programs such as Florida, Georgia, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, and Penn State.

He spent Saturday at Florida’s Jr. Day, and left with a great impression of the Gators.

QUICK Q&A

What was the highlight of your visit today?
“The highlight of my visit was talking to coach [Cheston] Blackshear and chatting it up with Coach [Billy] Napier again. The last time I saw him was when I was in 8th grade at a camp.”

Which coaches did you speak with the most, and what did they have to say to you?
“The coaches that I talked to the most were coach Blackshear, Coach [Rob] Sale and Coach [Darnell] Stapleton. We were talking about everything in life. You know, from funny stories from the past to deep experiences. And a lot of coaches don’t share that.”

Is there anything new you learned about the Gators today that you didn’t know before? If so, what?
“Something new that I learned about the Gators was how committed they are for their athletes to succeed in the classroom. It’s almost impossible to fail.”

What is the most impressive thing you saw either on tour of the campus or during one of the presentations? What really stood out?
“Something that really stood out to me is UF recovery facility. They had big hot tubs and a cryo freeze chamber. So that really stood out to me.”

How do you feel about Florida after visiting today?
“This was my first time getting to see UF facilities, and they were great. I really like the campus.”

It’s still early for you, but do you have any leaders or a leaderboard?
“It’s a little early, but one thing I can say is that UF is definitely one of the top schools on my list.”
