In contacting prospects last week to find out who would be attending the Florida-Tennessee game I had two targets say that while they wouldn’t be at that game, they would, or could attend a future game.
Even when Blountstown (Fla.) four-star safety Jordan Pride was still committed to Florida State, he was a mainstay on campus in Gainesville. After decommitting from the Seminoles, he pledged to Texas A&M.
However, Florida continued to recruit him, sending him an official offer last month when they could be extended on August 1st.
He was scheduled to be at the game this weekend but told me something came up and he couldn’t make it in.
However, watch for Pride to be in the stands for either the Arkansas or Florida State game later this season.
When news broke that Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was going to fight his NCAA-mandated three-game suspension to start this season, the reasoning has been it was because he didn’t plan on sticking around in Ann Arbor next year, and would be off to the NFL.
The UM athletic department then stepped in and implemented the suspension for this year, but that hasn’t stopped the speculation that this could still be Harbaugh’s last year of college ball.
Three four-star commits have already decommitted since this saga began.
This is not to say he is considering doing the same, but Ponte Vedra Beach (Fla.) three-star Jake Guarnera said that he is still in some contact with Florida offensive line coach Darnell Stapleton and he, ‘Might get to a game later this year. We will see.’
Thanks to the quality of the opponent, much like with McNeese State, Saturday’s visitor list will be underclassmen-heavy.
One lineman who will be in the Swamp this weekend is Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines 2025 defensive lineman Jyon Simon. The 6-foot-2, 265-pounder already has offers from the likes of Auburn, Southern Cal, Tennessee and Texas.
He was at Florida’s FNL and was going to go to the Grill in the Ville, but went to Auburn’s Big Cat Weekend instead.
If we don\'t get Seaton we need to get this guy.
