The Billy Napier era kicks off Saturday night when Florida takes on No. 7 Utah in the Swamp.
An equally important game will be played before, during, and after the onfield action as the staff welcomes 17 of their 20 2023 commits as well as a handful of top targets.
THE COMMITS
First off, we’ve confirmed that all but three of the 2023 commits will be on campus.
Those who won’t be there: Aidan Mizell is going on a family vacation. Will Norman is going to Syracuse on an unofficial visit to watch them play Louisville. And then, Knijeah Harris will be playing a game for IMG on Saturday.
Those who will be there:
Jordan Castell
Kelby Collins
Sharif Denson
Aaron Gates
Gavin Hill
Ja’Keem Jackson
Kamran James
Andy Jean
Bryce Lovett
Isaiah Nixon
Tyree Patterson
Jaden Robinson
TJ Searcy
Marcus Stokes
Treyaun Webb
Creed Whittemore
Eugene Wilson
Also, 2024 four-star linebacker commit Myles Graham and his family will arrive on Friday.
2023 TARGETS
As Inside the Gators reported earlier today, three huge names who are committed elsewhere are expected to be at the game.
They are five-star running back Richard Young (Alabama), four-star lineman Roderick Kearney (FSU), and perhaps four-star defensive tackle John Walker (UCF). Walker isn’t a sure thing (but then again, nothing is in recruiting).
There is a report from 247 that four-star running back Cedric Baxter is expected to be in attendance as well. ITG hasn’t been able to independently verify that though.
If we are being honest, while Florida’s class has moved up into the Top 10 in recruiting rankings, ultimately the success of this class is going to be hugely dependent on what happens with Lakeland (Fla.) five-star cornerback Cormani McClain. He will once again be on campus Saturday.
Four-star offensive lineman Caleb Lomu is flying in on Friday along with his parents.
A month ago it felt like Tampa (Fla.) Wharton four-star cornerback Dijon Johnson would be on the UF commitment list by now. That obviously hasn’t happened, but the Gators will have a chance to get in his ear on Saturday.
Cordele (Ga.) Crisp County four-star athlete Ahmad Brown was offered by Florida back in the spring and he will have a chance to see the Gators up close on Saturday
