Anonymous Player In-Season Q&A Part I

October 29, 2018

One of our most anticipated features each and every offseason is our Anonymous Player Parting Thoughts. Which without question is the most comprehensive, in-depth look at Florida football available on the Internet.

With that being the case, we decided to do something different this year and conduct an in-season question and answer session with an anonymous former Florida football player who is still in close contact with the current players.

Anonymous Player In-Season Q&A Part I

Wow. Great news on how the players are buying into Mullen's system.

I wish we could find a way to get the receivers the ball more even if it isn't Franks throwing it. Give it to them on sweeps, reverses or whatever. We do have so much talent there and only one ball.

Who are the players who aren't happy is the question I want answered? They aren't team players if they aren't happy when we are 6-2 and ranked in the top 15.

Thanks for the report on how things are going.

The bad thing about the line getting better by game is that three of them are seniors. We have to start over again next year.

No talk of the defense?

Doesn't seem like they are being disrespectful about it. They seem to accept their roles for the team but just like any talented receiver would be, are frustrated they aren't able to show what they can do with the ball.

I promise you on each and every team, from Philadelphia's Super Bowl winner, to Alabama's National Championship winning to your local high school's football team, there are players who are unhappy with where they stand on the depth chart or how they are utilized.

That is with each and every team, including Florida.

I'm not going to lie I thought this all season when people were saying that receivers need to step up and become a threat and help Felipe out... and I was thinking He misses them wide open... either throwing interceptions, not seeing them or bad throws... when you know that you could be better I would be frustrated too. I constantly think about what Grimes and Jefferson could do if we had somebody that could get him the ball. If we didn't have to coddle the quarterback. It's kind of like you have a Ferrari but you can only drive it on a gravel dirt road with heels and curves.

There isn't a receiver at any level of the sport that doesn't wish they touched the ball more.

I wander if deep down the receivers really love Felipe that much. Sounds like they like the playbook and know they are getting open but don't prolly don't like that the fact that the ball seldom arrives. Kind of like Jefferson on the first play against Georgia. Just the truth, a starting sec quarterback has to be able to hit that throw. Especially in a big time ball game. We all know what we got in the kid. Very talented arm. Questionable intangibles. I hope we can move Emory along and have him ready for next year. We will find a dual threat guy to put back there next year or the year after. Then that will make the offense a lot better.

No doubt. I agree. Would love to see what rexy could do with our receivers. I would say Rexy was prolly the best Qb along with Timmy and Danny that we ever had. He was such a gun slinger. See it n sling it. Great footwork, like most Spurrier QBs, a rocket arm and great decision making

It kind of reminds me of Alabama with Jalen Hurts... we see what Calvin Ridley has done in the NFL, just imagine had he been there with Tua... but the years with Jalen Hurts limited his production along with others... you could openly see the frustration of the receivers in the national championship game when Jalen hurts miss them...

Jalen hurts benefited from Lane kiffin. Like Dan Mullen Lane kiffin knows what he is doing calling plays and coaching a quarterback.

If I'm a receiver at Florida right now I could understand how they would be frustrated because Dan Mullen has plays to where they are very very very open wide open even and feleipe franks misses them. Bless the kids heart I would hate for him to cross a street because he would miss a Mack truck coming at him

I look at some of the balls that Trevon Grimes has caught that has been brought back for holding. Some of those catches are NFL Next Level catches. If he has somebody like will Grier throwing the ball to him he is easily first round next year. Along with Van Jefferson. We have a lot of underrated weapons on our team that all work really well together even though Scarlet Jefferson fumbled the ball I still love him as a running back along with Perine and Pearce... we have good blocking and catching tight ends. The offensive line has gotten a whole lot better. Kudos to the coaching staff for putting them in the best position to succeed and to improve because they were a mess at the beginning of the season. With the running back offensive line tight end and receiving positions working well the quarterback can not mess it up for you.

It's like if you go to a restaurant with the perfect atmosphere the perfect steak the perfect guest the perfect kitchen the perfect waiters and waitresses and the perfect entertainment and the chef is crappy... that's the equivalency of what we have in Florida with Felipe is the quarterback.

I really hate it for the kid cuz I do believe that he is has done and tried the best he can. He can be the biggest momentum killer with is untimely mistakes, we will be moving down the field think we are about to score then an interception when he misses an open receiver or a fumble or something that you have never seen happen mistake... its understandable if it is your first year but you are half way through your second year.. (technically your 3rd year) and you still make the same mistakes.. But mentally he doesn't have it it's too much for him... I'm glad the players don't criticize him as I'm doing publicly because they know that they are going to need him.
