Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep three-star tight end CJ Hawkins‍ shocked the world late last week when, seemingly, out of left field, he switched his pledge from Florida to Stanford.

Less than three weeks prior to his decommitment, while visiting campus for the game against Alabama, the 6-foot-7, 225-pounder declared his love for Florida in a pre-game interview with Inside the Gators.

Who knew Stanford had that many NFL TE? We should be pointing out to him that our TE catches going down this year is a good thing for him because it means we don't have an established TE coming back giving him more of a chance to come in and be the starter.

He didn't mention it but going to new place far away is a very good learning experience. He will be better for it and the academic reputation at Stanford is important too. Hard to argue with a kid that picks Stanford.

A flip to Georgia or FSU would be a different story!

I had just spoken with him face-to-face two weeks earlier at the Alabama game, where he declared his love for Florida and talked about recruiting teammate Keon Keely to become a Gator

So, I know I was shocked.
