Inside the Gators asked former Florida football players for their thoughts on the loss to Kentucky, where the Gators go from here, and if they believe Dan Mullen can build an elite program in Gainesville based on what he has done to this point.

  • Defensive tackle Ed Chester

We made a ton of mental mistakes, way too many penalties. We can be elite, but we must get more disciplined and also cut down on the turnovers.

I put the opinions of players ahead of what fans and reporters think and it looks like they're starting to question if Mullen can get it done.

I'm not ready to throw in the towel on him yet but you can't lose 2 times to Kentucky and still be considered a top coach coach.

I like what Mr. Snell had to say. Leadership accountability is key at every level which includes measuring your success against that of the top 4 coaches. Number 1 is killer instinct and the desire to win.

I love Shannon Snell. He's a no nonsense, no BS, tell it like it is guy. I have a felling he might have wanted to say more but I'm nota a mind reader. Overall I would not call the comments of the past players a glowing vote of confidence for Mullen.
