Four-star Gibson has decided

FLORIDA FOOTBALL & RECRUITING COVERAGE
Monthly access for just 33-cents a day or go annual for just over 25-cents a day

Last weekend Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange four-star wide receiver Jayden Gibson‍ made an unofficial visit to see Florida for their matchup against Alabama.

As it turns out, that will be the last visit he takes before he announces his college decision live on CBS Sports on October 13 – and it is one that made a lasting memory.

“There was crazy energy, great energy,” said Gibson. “It was probably one of the most electric stadiums I've been to before. It's probably something I won't ever forget regardless of where I go to school.”

Before going to the game, Gibson told Inside the Gators that though he had publically released his top eight, there were actually four programs that had separated themselves from the pack.

He wasn't willing to release who those top four were at that time – and he still isn't.

“I'm not going to go down any more,” said Gibson. “I'm going to make my commitment off of that top eight.”

Gibson said that though fans will be kept in suspense for 17 more days, he, himself is already sure of his choice.

“I haven't told anybody, but I already know where I'm going,” said Gibson. “I'm just waiting for the day to come to make the announcement.”

According to Gibson, he finalized where he will be committing over the last week.

“I kind of already knew where I wanted to go, but I wanted to make sure it was the right decision,” said Gibson. “I'll say I came to peace with it in the last weekish. We'll say last week sometime.”

Throughout the spring and summer Florida seemed to be in great shape for the legacy prospect out of central Florida, and though he hasn't said so himself, seemed to then slide back over the last couple of months.

In an interview with Inside the Gators in August, Gibson revealed that though he thought that he currently had a good relationship with Florida head coach Dan Mullen, compared to other coaches, Mullen was harder to get to know.

Since then, whether it was because of what he said or some other reason, Gibson said he has seen a change in his interactions with Mullen.

“He hasn't talked to me directly about me saying that, but ever since then he's been a little bit different – he'll talk to me and be a little more open. I think he knows that what I was saying really wasn't a bad thing. Some people act like I wanted to be recruited harder. It wasn't like I was like, 'Oh, I need more access to Coach Mullen' or anything like that. What he was giving me, I was fine with. I was saying that he isn't the kind of coach who is this super loud, all up in your face, going to be your buddy type. He's more of an execution and results type of coach, and I'm fine with that. He was already recruiting me hard and he's kind of boosted it up a notch after all of that.”

Now that that has been straightened out - if it even needed to be - the 6-foot-5, 190-pounder is on the clock to make his pledge.

In choosing the school he will attend, he said he kept the criteria simple.

“Everybody tries to overcomplicate it,” explained Gibson, “but really it came down to the place where I think I can be the most successful at.”

Gibson is the No. 170 ranked prospect in the nation according to the 247 Sports Composite.

I'd say it's good news if Mullen found out how Gibson felt and tried to change some things about how he recruited him. Hopefully other recruits will tell him how they feel and be honest about it so he can self evaluate and get better as a recruiter.

For all those sunshine pumpers that are in denial and always dismissing those of us who complain about recruiting. Well you have read it from a recruits mouth about Mullen. And his recruiting it's a big turn off somewhat and this is why we are not reeling in certain levels of recruits. Mullen needs to take heed to what these young men think and use it to self evaluate .

Just reinforcing for you ******s that think one recruit that just said he reached out changes the past bad recruiting misses. Can you comprehend.

Kids are just much more needy these days I guess. I'm willing to bet The Old Ball Coach, Bear Bryant, Bo Schembechler, Knute Rockne, Tom Osborne, and Woody Hayes didn't get all personable with recruits and probably didn't even get chummy with the majority of their players unless they were first string.

I also get tired of the over the top negativity because it undercuts the real issues that should be discussed and noted. I really don't even read much of what gatrkd50 puts out here anymore because its emotional. But Im not sure you even read what Gibson said either. No where in his comments does he say Mullen reached out to him and got better at recruiting. He literally is saying that Mullen can come off negative but if you get to know him you see the other side of him. This is a recruit we want who has a much closer relationship to Mullen than you or I and I think what he says has a lot more weight than your poor attempt to change the narrative. Read the quote again.

He says it twice in this story that the way Mullen has recruited him has changed.

Show me one thing i've written that is not truth ? Just because i don't pump sunshine and call a spade a spade i'm wrong. Grantham is a terrible D-Coord, Mullen can't recruit it is what it is.

Actually we hardly have any injuries compared to other programs. That's how dumb you are. Savage is one of the best
Further CDM is under no obligation to report injuries but you clearly do not know this

I wasn't calling him an idiot, but I was pointing out that all programs sustain injuries. When he posted that, Alabama just lost a player for the year, SC. had to bring up a GA to play quarterback, etc..

UF doesn't suffer an inordinate amount of injuries.

Wasn't it in a book from Urban Meyer or by Urban Meyer that even Tebow didn't about sign with us because at first he didn't like Mullen either?

You know if someone like Tebow doesn't like someone there has to be some issue with the way he acts.

You are out of context and way off base.
Urb took over the primary recruiting of Tebow. Thats where it ends.

As far as the relationship with Mullen and Tebow. They are like family.
You cannot compare the bond between CDM and Tebow compared with the relationship between Tebow and Urb.

Do we get him on Wednesday or do we know if he is coming here or going somewhere else?
