The Freshman Report: Predicting who plays

August 26, 2021
1,329

In the past, if a freshman saw the field for even one play, they were no longer eligible for a regular redshirt, and instead, if they played in only two games in the first third games of the season, they could apply for a medical redshirt.

Then, in 2018, the rules changed.

A player can now play in up to four games, at any time during the season, and still receive a redshirt.

Thanks Mark for the updates and info. Its always guess work what happens, but you pointed out the difficulty of seeing the field for frosh when there is already 2 or 3 deep in front of you.

Folks are always going to ask about Johnny Hotshot and why he isn't playing. Now maybe they know why.

Are offensive line signs could see the field if we started signing more talented players.

We'll wait and see if Booker redshirts for Alabama next year or if they play him.
