On Tuesday Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab four-star defensive back Austin Ausberry‍ left his unofficial visit to Florida with an offer from the Gators.

“I was talking with Coach [Dan] Mullen. Coach [Wesley] McGriff, Coach Jules [Montinar], and Coach [Kelvin] Bolden,” explained Ausberry. “My relationship with all the defensive back coaches is great. They are recruiting me to play all over the secondary.”

At the end of the day, he received some news from the Gators.

“Coach Mullen gave me the offer,” said Ausberry. “I just said, 'Thanks for the opportunity to be a Gator.'”

It wasn't just the coaches that Ausberry spent time around. He said that he also got to communicate with freshman Cheif Borders as well

“He's a cool dude,” said Ausberry. “He told me why Florida is so great. He told me about the education, the coaches, and the resources.”

One of those resources being the new football facility, due to be completed early next year.

“I saw what they are doing to the place,” said Ausberry. “It's very cool.”

Back on June 1 his younger brother, 2023 five-star linebacker Jaiden Ausberry‍, visited Florida for the Gators' Summer Kickoff.

As Austin told Inside the Gators for Monday's Recruiting Intel Notebook – he was unable to make that trip because of a trip to Alabama he had previously scheduled.

Austin said that he got a heads up about Gainesville from his brother Jaiden.

“He just said how nice Florida is.”

Austin also told ITG that how Tuesday's visit unfolded would determine whether or not UF joined Alabama, LSU, and Notre Dame as his favorites.

“Yes, Florida is one of the top schools on my list,” said Ausberry after the visit and offer. “I will officially visit this fall, but I don't know the game yet.

Ausberry is the No. 260 ranked prospect in the nation according to the 247 Sports Composite.

The Inside Scoop: The good news is Florida vaulted into Ausberry’s top four with the visit and offer. The bad news is he goes to University Lab in Baton Rouge - the hometown of the LSU Tigers. LSU’s record recruiting top targets from Baton Rouge speaks for itself.
