OFFICIAL VISITORS

Elijah Blades‍

Cornerback

The Skinny:  Florida fans who follow recruiting know Blades well. As we posted when we broke the news of his visit, at one time he was committed to the Gators under Jim McElwain. He’s had a couple of stops since then and could end up playing for UF next season as a grad transfer. He started six games for Texas A&M in 2019 before being sidelined with a shoulder injury and then opting out last season. I’m unsure of any other visits, but if he is going to transfer to Florida, I would assume the staff would want to have him situated before the start of Summer B in 10 days.

Terrance Gibbs‍

Running Back

The Skinny:  After visiting Florida for the Summer Kickoff recruiting event, he then took official visits to LSU (6/4) and Florida State (6/11). Taking this visit this weekend may mean that he has seen enough. If Florida is going to receive a commitment from a high school visitor this weekend, Gibbs would be the most likely candidate if the staff pushes for a pledge.

Shemar James‍

Linebacker

The Skinny: In early May James narrowed his focus to a final two of Florida and Alabama. Normally you wouldn’t love the Gators’ chances in that match-up, but Christian Robinson has proven to be a top recruiter, as evidence, he was able to pull Jeremiah Williams‍ from the Yellow Hammer State from under the Tide in the last cycle, giving the Florida faithful at least a little hope that he can do it again.

Alex McPherson‍

Kicker

The Skinny:  The little brother of former Florida kicker Evan McPherson at one time seemed to be destined for the Gators' Orange and Blue, and those may still his future colors, but in a different shade as Auburn seems to have taken the lead after the Tigers extended an offer. He also has Georgia and Texas A&M as finalists.

CJ Smith‍

Receiver

The Skinny:  He sounded like he was ready to commit to Florida after he visited for the Gators’ Summer Kickoff earlier this month, but said that he promised himself that he would take all of his official visits before making a decision, that was supposed to take place in August, but he has delayed until December or February. UF is clearly in front, and this weekend may put his resolve to the test when it comes to not making an early pledge.

DJ Wesolak‍

Defensive End

The Skinny: In a lot of cases when an out-of-area prospect speaks highly of a school immediately after an offer, that is about as far as it goes. However, in the case of Wesolak, after offering Florida was included in his top 15 and then he set an official visit with the Gators. This is his first official visit, but he has visited Clemson unofficially already. We'll see what kind of feedback he offers post-visit to see where UF stands.
