Everyone has won the East except Mullen so far . If he is going to o it better happen this year because his recruiting is falling behind GA big.

Zook that high? He probably walked into the best shape the program was in as any of the six and failed miserably.

Zook and Muschamp were very good recruiters . Man if Mullens had a Muschamp as his d-coordinator he would be right their with Urban/Spurrier as one of the greats in Gator coaching history.

Zook and Champ are the same imop you can flip flop them . Both are truly better being coordinators .

I dont understand why the fanbase never held Foleys feet to the fire with 3 bad hires?

3 bad hires and 2 National Championships?

Is that bad?

Let's be real. Urban Meyer was an up-and-coming coach at the time...which was similar to where Muschamp was thought to be. Albeit that Mus wasn't a head coach yet

Nice article Mark!

"Honestly, though many may not admit it publicly, there is a significant portion of the fan base who would rather go 9-3 with an exciting, high scoring offense, than 10-2 with a grind it out, a cure for insomnia, type of offense. "

This statement really sums up Gators fans. We all got spoiled by SS Fun-n-Gun

College sports are entertainment, and to most, a grind it out offense isn't all that entertaining, even when you are winning.

Meyer is a top 5 all time coach.

Mullen isn't going to reach that level but he could still win us a championship.

Mark, now do Mark Richt...
"Most teams that are up there fighting for championships, they better be in the top five in the nation in recruiting" - Steve Spurrier, 2018
"We have to change the recruiting process somehow and make sure that us Gators are up there in the top five in recruiting, and that’s really how you go about that, having really super teams every year." - Steve Spurrier, 2019

The comparisons are very similar, but Mullen finally got over the UGA hump. Both have the same exact record through their first 30 games, but Richt was 0-3 vs Florida. I said Mullen would be our Richt when he was hired. He'd win a bunch of games, but never win anything big. I'm hoping I'll be proven wrong.

After 32 games Mullen, Meyer and Spurrier all have the exact same records.

Spurrier and Meyer had one SEC Championship by this time is the only difference.

Might want to check your facts there. Meyer won a NC in his second season at UF.
